How to do a trap out
« on: December 05, 2013, 08:50:41 am »
The following is a series of posts dealing with the step by step procedure of a trapout. Since the posts will move around as different replies come in, I am posting links to each of them here, so they can be found easily.

Iddee's step by step tutorial is what gave me the confidence to try my first trap-out!

Where did you see "A frame of brood?' I don't think I wrote it.

A frame of eggs means success. A frame of brood may mean failure.

Yes, eggs. I did a trap out last summer. I put a frame of eggs and some brood in the trap. It didn't take long for the bees to start making some queen cells. It was awesome! I still have that hive sitting outside. I may end up getting a new queen though.  These girls are not that nice.

i would wait tb, and not be quick to requeen that hive; wait to see how she does, how the hive does. sometimes the hotter hives are the best producers.  if it's too hot, unworkable, or you don't care for it, or other reason, a different story.  just my HO.

Yes, I will wait. I'm a procrastinator by trade. I got that hive in July of last year so they really haven't had a chance to prove themselves yet. I'm looking forward to see what the queen does. And speaking of procrastination, I have some frames I need to put together. Eh, I will do it tomorrow.  :P

Just saw iddee's video today and wish there were more! I love your confidence and knowledge of the subject. If you are ever interested in doing more, I'll be first in line to subscribe to your channel (but I have a feeling it would be a long line).

I'm afraid so. That was JP's video. I was just the subject of that one. I can't hear a video, so I doubt I'll ever try to make one.

I about spit my coffee on the keyboard when he said get the stinger out of my ear..........
I agree, I'd love to see him do a few vids, but hes pretty stubborn and ornery. Dragging him into the picture might be a tussle, but the knowledge gained may be worth a few bruises.    ;D

It's like that day with JP. If someone wants to do one, I won't object, but I won't go out of my way to do it. I'm just not that interested in putting my mug out there.

Is this the Iddee trapout thread?  Got some bees in a tree, they need to go, not cutting down...
