A first that I don't care to repeat . . .
« on: July 12, 2014, 11:27:41 pm »
There's a first time for everything, and I had an interesting experience today.  Was out working the bee yard and had a bee go zipping right into my ear.  I'm not talking about running into the side of my head like the clumsy girls do from time to time.  I'm talking about she went zipping right INTO my ear  :o.  Talk about  a sick feeling.  I turn to my son, who was with me, and asked what I already knew -- "Did that bee go into my ear?"  He takes a look and, sure enough, she's down in there.  He can't get to her, though.  I cringe, just waiting for the inevitable.  I tell him to look in my toolbox for a Benadryl.  I figure I may need one this time.  After about 45 seconds, still no sting.  I happen to think about the forcep tweezers that I keep in my toolbox.  I have my son grab them.  He manages to get her out.  How I escaped without a sting, I have no idea.  But I don't care to repeat that episode.

Bees go down into flower cavitys and nwed to back out as well as going in be brood cells to
Polish cells and feed larva. You are more likely to get stung truing to remove her than if you let her back out on her own.

Like Lb have had them fly into nose and mouth but but not the ear.........yet.......just can't wait for that one! Of course in my case she would have just flown straight on through to the other side anyway  :D.

Glad you did not get stung and good thinking on the benadryl and the tweezers, even better you had some help to get it out. Hope you treated your son to some ice cream or something!!
Bees are bees and do as they please!

I don't know if I would have freaked or been frozen in my place waiting on the burn.

Good outcome!
I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

I'm glad that turned out all right for you. You should have left immediately and bought a Powerball ticket.

Like a skunk in a box trap she could get the tail in the correct position.
