Here's some pics. of an open colony in my neighbors barn.We've been watching them for three years.All you frozen beeks have something to look at now.
I don't know.It was like that when I got here.

No kidding. Pretty rugged bees to survive the winters hanging there.  That a 4440 Cab I see?

Not often if ever do you see an open air colony here. That thing is huge!  :photos:

Nice one for sure. I would set up a couple of swarm traps myself.

WOW!! Being able to enlarge the pics puts a whole new perspective on the size of that colony..   I'd LOVE to have that nearby just to see how big they become..  its not like they are restricted on size!!!

Nice photo, thanks for sharing!  I wonder if drawing around that one stud is what caused the waves.

I don't know Blue,but what I can tell you is that when there was only about three combs my friend added the piece of angle iron that goes through the comb and between the two trusses.He was afraid they might come down when it got hot.The bees just keep building around it.

The owner keeps lost of empty boxes on a flat bed and the swarms just move in,but I'll ask him if I can swarm trap just to see.
