Is this the ultimate test of temperment?
« on: August 16, 2018, 11:37:44 pm »
I've got this shoulder high jungle of weeds I have to negotiate to get to my bee yard. I have to creep along watching the ground for snakes. Sooo…today I decided to weed eat them down. Cleared a path 30' wide all the way to the yard and then around the hives. Not one bee got upset!  :)

Some Day,
Fortunately I didn't encounter any snakes. I was hoping all the racket I was making would drive them off.

My son mows yards in the neighborhood and runs into snakes almost daily.  Rattlers and copperheads are on his mind whenever he is in the tall grass.  Got one 3.5' rattler this week already.  Be smart.  :)

Oh, we've got 'em here. In the last ten years I've killed 4 rattlers, one 6 footer, and about a dozen copperheads. I only kill them if they are in the yard or the garden. I don't need my highly allergic sweetie getting bit. My home is surrounded by about 2500 acres of woods so I figure that's their home, if I come across them there. :) :)

A guy needs to be careful around rattle snakes.  When we lived in Arizona my wife took our male dog for a walk in the desert and she was bitten by a rattle snake.  After 3 days of terrible swelling and writhing in agony the rattle snake died.

Got bit by a copperhead a few years ago. Made a large black bruise and a bit sore. I often wonder how that little fellow fared. :)
