First Cleansing Flights ~ A good day for us!
« on: January 12, 2014, 01:10:46 pm »
Today was an exciting day for us.  First of all we know that both our hives made it through the real cold nasty spell (last week -21 C today +11 C) we had, and we really witnessed our first cleansing flights.  The girls were out flying like crazy and getting themselves  a drink in the melting snow.  A real good day for the 40 Acre Bees.  Just thought we would share in our relief and excitement.  I guess this happens to the new bee keeps in their first year,  just hoping you are doing everything right.

I added some sugar cakes to my hives just before the arctic blast.  It was close to 60 degrees today so I decided to check in on them.

Mine were out flying real good also, got up to 63f here, checked and going to make some more sugar syrup for the girls tomorrow if we have the same temp as today like they say.
