Community pollinator event

(1/1)

Bakersdozen:

I spent the day participating in a community event at a nearby park called a Pollinator Prairie.  Native bees, bats, butterflies, and Monarchs were represented.  I represented the honey bee on behalf of my local bee club.

This was a family oriented event.  I gave away honey sticks and sample tastes of my honey.
I had basic bee equipment, brochures from the honey board, and info about our local bee club.
I met some great people including a young man that has a traditional hive and a flow hive.  He has managed to put the flow hive on top of the brood boxes and use it in place of a honey super.  This way he didn't need to bother with an extractor.  He and his wife have two very young girls, so I can understand the desire not to try to extract with them around.
Sounds interesting!  He gave me his name and address so that I could come by and see it in action.
