still have a hard time snuffing queens.

even when they are not performing as thy should I still have a hard time killing dud queens. I have one that has not laid more than a 3" patch of brood for weeks. I caught & put her in a nuc instead of killing her.

Bravo! I'm the same way Rober, I feel like Henry the 8th who lopped of the heads of women who could not produce a male child. Just can't do it  ;) 8)

Not only are you giving her a chance, if the bees in the nuc are not happy with her they can do what comes natural and supercede.

I hate to kill a laying queen.  But yesterday I took great pleasure in doing it.  She was a swarm queen and they are the meanest bees I've had to deal with. I gave them several chances but they were really bad, like pop the top and  so many to take your breath away.  I found her quickly through the cloud of smoke and pinched her into. I combined with a nuc I'll check next week.  The sad part is they were wall to wall with brood, she was something else.

I guess I've gotten to where I don't have much desire to mess with mean bees.  Seems like there is always one in a group a little hotter than others, but these were a liability.

Rober, I've found lots of reasons queens don't perform like I expected and a change may have wonderful results.

I'm very fortunate that I've not been in this position. I still haven't seen my queen since the day I put her in there (and she's a MARKED QUEEN). Hahaha. I know she's in there working hard but I can't find her.

You too, huh??  I have the same problem, so don't feel bad.  LOL.  I know she's there, but where is another question entirely.
