Online events
« on: May 20, 2020, 09:19:41 am »
With the pandemic still raging in certain areas, most things have been pushed to online venues.
This could be a golden opportunity for some of us to attend things that would normally be out of reach.
Is there anything you all know about that you would like to share with the group?

I have enjoyed watching beekeeping zoom videos put on each week by the Lawrence County Alabama Extension Office.

This sounds really informative and the topics scheduled don't appear to be related to any particular geographic area.
The Empire State Honey Producers Association Winter Conference will be online and it will be free and open to the public.  It is being held on 2/6/21 in the afternoon.   Topics and speakers will be:  1. Dr. Jay Evans (USDA Agricultural Research Service): Viruses and the honey bee gut. 2. Dr. Christina Wahl (ESHPA) and Emma Walters (Cornell University): Viruses linger in deadout comb and honey.  3. Julie Larsen (Cornell Master Beekeeper): Dealing with crystalized honey.
4. Anthony Nearman (Bee Informed Partnership): How bee autopsies usefully predict colony mortality.  5.  Alice Varon (Certified Naturally Grown): How becoming a Certified Naturally Grown producer can benefit your apiary product marketing.

Texas doesn't seem to have anything so far, but I cross posted the New York one to Metro Beekeepers in DFW.  Will see if any new links pop up there due to the inspiration

I just sat in on this conference and it was very informative!  I missed most of the first hour because I forgot about the different time zones.   I picked up some answers to questions that I had been pondering for a while.

There are great opportunities out there if you can catch them!
