I've got cataracts and I am also am at risk for detached retina(s) which may complicate surgery.
Anybody know of any cures from the hive (or elsewhere)?

So sorry to hear that Ray. I don't know any cures from the hive. But I will say that modern medicine has made a lot of advances in this area. Cataract removal is a walk in the park. Detached retina, I don't have any experience with. Good luck to you.

My wife had cataract surgery as an out patient and it might have taken 20 minutes, i couldn't believe it :o. My eye doctor says i have a starting of cataracts, but not bad enough for surgery yet. I went to him for what he called floaters, when working bees it sometimes looks like a bee is coming or is to close to my eyes ;D, i don't think there is much they can do for floaters  Jack

I read this just a few days ago. A guy in BC invented them and they could soon be available.

Thanks everybody.
Jack those floater are a sign you may be at risk for a detached retina. I have a few relatives on my mother's side who had detached retinas.

I don't have good vision in my left eye, they say i have a wrinkle behind it, and surgery might help or it might not? I'll just live with it. ??? Jack

I've heard of people who had their retina "re-attached" by the use of a lazer beam. It is shined into the eye and focused on several points around the margin of the retina, creating a few tiny "burns " that "glue" the retina in the proper position.

I have floaters. I had them back in 2007 when I had cataract surgery, lens replacement. My vision since then has at least 20:20 without any downside. I would advise having it done.

While floaters are a indication of a retinal tear, in my case they're just pieces of veins that have broken off (as a long term glaucoma patient, I get my money's worth out of my eye doc lol). I can't tell you the percentages, but I was told I have nothing to worry about.
Ray, there's a cataract thread started in the apitherapy section of the beesource forum you should check out, somebody gave a recipe for honey eye drops. As I have em too, I'm going to become my own patient :D.
I've been doing a bilberry tincture that a gal made up for me (bilberry increases blood flow to the eyes) and it seems to have helped with the floaters, don't see em as often as I've had before.

Google "sage honey for cataracts". A drop in each eye at bedtime for 7 nights the 7 nights w/o. Repeat as needed. A friend of the family learned this in a massage therapy course along with other neat stuff everyone should know.
