I could do this! It doesn't seem daunting to me. But I have the same question as Wman... how do you breathe? Especially like this guy who had the bees all over his nose and mouth?

Jen,

How long can you hold your breath?

He had some kind of nose plug.  It's opening was probably too small for a bee to enter, but really, who could breathe for 55 minutes through such a small opening?

And what to you do if a bee gets her head stuck up in one of the holes?  Sneeze her out?

UGH! Sneezing her out would mean Death By Honeybees!  :o

Now, I was told that if you put a line of honey from the bottom of one ear, down the side of your face, across your chin, to the other ear. That the bees would stay on that line. The queen would be hanging around the neck like a necklace.

But I'm sure that this was not the case, and I haven't the vaguest idea how to breathe like this.

Something I have had to overcome is being cool with bugs lighting on me to check me out. It really creeps me out, but I'm much calmer about it now. I would have nightmares if I let that many bees light on me! :)

I've been pretty comfortable with bugs in general. But I did have to get used to bees landing on me. I found in time that they are simply resting and grooming, which tickles me pink that they are comfortable with me.

I like to hold praying mantis as well. I like how their heads move and stare right at me  ;) 8)

Hmm, in a speedo?   :o

I can have dozens of bees crawling on me and it doesn't bother me in the least. Even a bee crawling on my face inside the veil. Wife makes EEEE sounds and runs... My biggest issue is claustrophobia. A friend of mine got stuck in a culvert when we were kids. he came really close to dying in it. the mud built up around him, and he couldn't go forward, and he couldn't back up. They had to dig him out with a backhoe and cut the culvert apart. if you THINK about shutting him in a closet to this day he freaks out...  He said me talking to him from the end of the culvert was all that kept him sane. i can handle the closet, but not much more. Being covered in bees?   i think it might get close since you cant move much.
No bee beards for me, I will have to lose the challenge and concede total victory to Perry!

My first thoughts were that he was in a meditative state.  That might help slow down the breathing.
I never understood anyone wanting to do the bee-bearding thing.
