Digging through some old pictures to spur some discussions.

That is cool! Immediately reminded me of my wood stove bellow.  It's like a hybrid between that and the smoker.

Interesting I haven't seen a smoker like that. I got a couple old ones in my small collection but none like that

That is a dandy, Is it in your collection?

I have seen one in a drawing of a bee keeper in a village robbing a bee tree out, Or at least I think it looked like that one!

Interesting design, load tender from the top, down draft for smoke. not like today's design of an updraft.
Bees are bees and do as they please!

I have given you all ample time and and survey says.......XXX    ;)
I guess I need to come clean.

It is not a bee smoker.   It is a dry fire extinguisher.   You fill it with powder (notice cover acts as scoop) and as you pump the bellow,  there is a rod that rotates a plate in the bottom and it acts similar to a cake flour sifter.  The "sifted" powder falls into the stream of air coming from the bellow and out the tube.

Don't feel bad,  we had it in our collection for about 30 years before we found out it wasn't a smoker.

So how did you come by that?
Somebody else give it to you thinking it was a bee smoker also?

Very interesting piece!

Still make a good smoker

You nailed it.  A honey customer gave it to my dad many years ago.  Everyone thought it was a smoker until I did a little research a few years back.  Ah the value of the information super highway  ;)
