I'm from Spencerville, Ontario... About an hour south of Ottawa...
Started with two nucs last in spring '17...
One went south on me, I ended up combining the two.
It seem pretty populous now in late March, hope they boom this spring..
I got this forum link from Scott Sievers at The Outyard.

Looking forward to taking part...

Welcome Treeman. I started last Spring as well with 2 nucs. Lost 'em both. Starting almost fresh this Spring with 2 more nucs. Good forum here. I've learned a lot from these folks. I think you'll enjoy it. PappyRick

Welcome, from Nova Scotia. If you are ever on a holiday in the region be sure to get a hold of some of the members on the forum here in NS. We can show off our Maritime bees. :D
-
Oh no, another one of Scott's buddies. Well, we won't hold it against you. Seriously though, Scott is a good guy and a heck of a beekeeper. He's kind of fun to hang with too!
Welcome aboard Treeman, glad to have you here! Ted

After re-thinking my previous post I feel an apology may be in order. If anyone took what I wrote as anything other than me messing with my buddy Scott I have committed a grievous dis-service, to them, to this forum and to Scott. For this I offer my most sincere apology. I find that I can be at my dumbest when trying to be funny. Ted

ted, what you said i found very funny!

Welcome to the forum Treeman. Could your chosen moniker hint at a any special affinity you have for catching swarms? I don't know what the situation is in Ontario, but catching swarms is one of my favorite activities as a beekeeper. Besides, they're free.

ted, what you said i found very funny!
I did too Ted, don't know what you would apologize for.

Erring on the side of caution, didn't want to scare treeman off.

If anyone thought you were being mean spirited they will soon learn that we are a fun loving group. Those of us that have been around for a while give and get lots of ribbing. If we thought you were serious, I understand riverbee does a mean snow dance!!

A very big thank you very much to everyone for their welcomes!
I don't often participate in forums but from all the replies I see, this sure looks a forum worthy of more attention on my part.
Cheers to everyone! :) :)

Treeman, I dare speak for the group (even though no one appointed me to do so): Just in case you haven't felt it yet, soon enough you'll see how we are pretty much a "happy family" together. You won't find anyone insulting another here. Disagreements are expressed civilly and the tone of voice that carries over is pleasant and cooperative. As you have already seen an example of joking, you'll understand how it is all said with a pleasant smile and the "victim" of a wisecrack takes it all in good stride and understanding that it's meant in good humor. I really hope you find your stay with us to be a pleasant and beneficial one.
Nice families tend to grow large.

Thanks efmesch!
I got that feeling from the first few replies. I'm no stranger to wisecracks either. In order to offend me somebody has to really work at it, I've got pretty thick skin.
I'm looking forward to following this forum...
Cheers!
