Title: Beek found this
Post by: Mikey N.C. on September 25, 2018, 05:35:50 pm
Old apiary site, not used in 4 yrs. Did use LG oil an old drawn frames. Looks like this happened before storm?  Maybe an absconding don't know?  I ve got work tomorrow can't go. Now this swarm trap box is 10 frame,  but with a screen bottom board.  Notice bees never entered box (my thinking because of sbb) ???????

Can't say I understand it, but, bees (swarming or not) hanging on the bottom of screened bottom boards isn't unusual.  I wonder if they would have gone inside with a closed bottom board?  I guess if they are just bivouacking in their collective mind, they are going to move on soon anyway and it does not matter.  Nice catch Mikey.  :)

Just thinking with screen bottom.  Bees , look like they combed under sbb?
Got lucky. Going to cutout Sunday . Will take pics.

I agree with Lee, Screened BB the queen clustered under it so the bees clustered and stayed with her and did not move inside.
