I took a similar picture a couple weeks ago with the intent of posting it in "Beekeeping 101" (or in "Laugh A Little") to demonstrate how I saved money by building a natural wind barrier for the hive at my house. I took this picture earlier today, but I'm not too sure why I'm posting in "Laugh A Little" because, quite frankly, this REALLY isn't funny any more!!! To put things into perspective: This pile is from my 18' wide x 48' long driveway. Not all of the snow is here, a great deal of it is pushed over the embankment behind it, into the side-yard, and even down the road a little. This pile is roughly 6 1/2' high x 20'+ deep x 30' wide. This is no longer funny:

capn, it's what we deal with as northern beeks.......it's crazy some years......
been there done that and more. last year we were moving snow around with a bobcat. you all are getting hammered out your way.

My motehr in Law said she had three feet when I talked with her a couple weeks ago, and they have been hit twice since, and another coming.. MAN I really dont miss that part of living in Maine!!

This pic was a week ago, the snow melted three days ago leaving only the remanants of a few bigger drifts. Then it froze again, but its supposed to be 38 tomorrow, and then 18 the next day.. I am thinking that I would almost have another -20 degree for 4 month winter like we did last year than this roller coaster ride were on..
Plowing snow in Maine was always about where to put the snow. You had to PLAN for a lot of snow, so we always pushed it as far as reasonably possible, and that path got SHORT pretty quick most years.

I hope you have an upper entrance on that hive. Yesterday I walked thru 4 ft of snow to get to my hives. I cleaned out all the snow around all of my hives. Last night 4 inches of new snow filled in my hard work. Its a normal procedure for me every year to help get my bees thru the winter. so far we have about 170 inches. Normal is 200 inches. I hate to see what March will bring for us this year. That snow in march is very heavy. What we need now is a slow thaw to melt some of this crap.

I just got back from Montana. They would love to have that snow. They are hurting for moisture and the temperatures are warmer there than here in Kansas City.
