Honey extraction
« on: May 14, 2021, 08:50:56 pm »
It went well other than my lower back now killing me. I did exactly what I said, I pulled frames, gave em a good shake, brushed the remaining bees off with a turkey feather, spun around and dropped them in 5 frame nucs, 4 frames to a nuc (8 frame 7 5/8 supers). I extracted 7 to 8 gallons today. I still have supers left, but they will still be there next week. Here's a pic of my setup over here. Nucs are to the left on a bench. Finger included.  I went back this evening and put the stickeys back on.

Those supers do get heavy!  It always amazes me how far along other keepers are in other regions.  We are in the middle of swarm season here in Central Indiana.
