I did a cut out for a cop 2 years & that got me both feet in the door with the St louis P.D.. the call was for a nice swarm in the downtown area. the area was sealed off with crime scene tape. cracked me up. I found the queen, clipped her, & put her with some frames in an EZ nuc box & bungeed the box to the tree. I gave a card to a hostess who was watching the show & took off. 2 hours later the hostess called to tell me the girls were all in my box. I gotta' tell y'all that i'm finding these EZ nuc boxes to be the cat's meow for capturing swarms. they're lightweight, are sized to hold frames, have a closable entrance & an attached hinged lid. plus in a pinch when you get them home you don't have hive them immediately.

rober, is this the EZ nuc box you are referring to?

yes indeed. with the hinged lid you're there's 1 less thing to deal with. it's well ventilated & it does hold a lot of bees.

this is the 2nd swarm in a week that when a queen in a clip was put in an EZ nuc that the bees waltzed right in.
