Title: K-Wing?

Was looking at hives today,  noticed that the feral bees( caught as swarm 2 yr ago)
Were draging bees out entrance.  Looked like they have K-Wing.
Question is do healthy bees in a hive . Clear out diseased bees ?

Bees that are compromised will often remove themselves.  I remember Olav speaking to the Guilford County Beekeepers about this research before it was published.

Mikey, you didn't ask about a solution to the K Wing problem.  K Wing is caused by tracheal mites.  My understanding is that one or two bees afflicted isn't a big deal, but hundreds afflicted is another thing.  I have only seen K Wing once and that was very early in my beekeeping adventures. Is there anything Mikey can do this time of year?

Yesterday I only saw about 3-4 didn't get pic. They were being dragged out by 2-3 bees. Don't know if its k-wing. Their wings were spread and pointed up at about 45° angle. Was out watching them for 30 mins. awhile ago, and didn't see anymore.
Boy the boxes a flying like its summer time and bringing in lots of orange and deep deep red pollen.

I did notice. I seen some small black fly's not bee like, mashed one with my thumb.
I'll try an get some pics.

Mix about 2 teaspoons of crisco with all the powdered sugar you can get it to hold and make a patty about 1/4 in. thick.. Place it on the top bars. We are supposed to have flying weather for the next week, so they should be able to consume it in that time. If you have tracheal mites, it should help. If not, it won't hurt them. Powdered sugar doesn't hurt them in small amounts in flying weather.

I thought my bees had Chronic Bee Paralysis, because the wings were stuck straight out and they were hairless.
The first hive recovered, but I've now got a second hive with the same symptoms.  But this hive seems to be managing it better.  The girls are escorting the sick ones out of the hive or killing them.  There aren't as many, yet.  I'm hoping my BeeWeaver bees are better at getting rid of the virus, or whatever it is.

I suppose any shortening or lard would work. Lard will go rancid quicker than shortening.
