Swarm Season 2020
« on: April 28, 2020, 09:10:48 am »
Swarm season is ON! in this part of the country.  I have picked up 3 swarms in 3 days.  It seems every where I look, on social media, the talk is of swarms.  Here is a picture of swarm #1.

It was really large and about chest high.
No picture available of swarm #2.
Swarm #3 moved into a swarm trap.

Anyone have any swarm stories to share?

I've caught 4 strays plus 4 of my own. all of my stronger hives are trying to swarm. I have several hives that are solid brood from top to bottom & side to side. one had 14 frames of brood & I run 9 frame boxes.

I run 9 frame boxes.

That's interesting, rober.  Yesterday was the first time I heard of running 9 frames in a brood box.  The University of Nebraska bee lab runs 9 frames because it makes it easier to inspect the frames.
