Title: Sun chokes

 I have added sun chokes to the list of growing goodies on our homestead. I put them in that tree line where i dont mind them going buck Wilde. So far they are growing well! I also come to find out they are a treat goats will like.  So I call that a triple win. Food for them, the bees, and us!

Hey perry you hear that, now that's a nice southern lady. :yes: I was taught to say, yes sir, and yes mam,to all grown ups, growing up, kind of got out of the habit when i left the service? I use to have a nice patch of Jerusalem chokes,we really liked them, don't recall what happened to them? Maybe we liked them to much. :D Jack

Your goats will love them. Maybe too much, but if you keep them off of them till harvest they will devour the tubers after you harvest and wash them off.

Give me a day or two and I'll pass along what I find.  I've pickled them but it's been years.  When I was a kid growing up in NC, you could buy the pickles in the grocery store.  They went under the name 'Jerusalem Artichokes' if memory serves me.

Couldn't find the one we used but this one seems to be the same except we didn't use cloves.  The smaller tubers are the best for pickling because they are crunchy.  Here is what I found:

I picked up some Jerusalem Artichoke tubers today at a seed swap.  Does anyone currently on WWB have any advice about planting them?

12-18 inches apart about 4” down in well draining soil.
