Now we've got the fancy T-shirt model on the beach!!  If this guy's not a pro, I don't know who is!  8) ;D

Seriously though, it looks like you are having an incredible time.  Those trees are amazing!  :)

Total California Beach Stud! The Redwoods are always spectacular. And it's not just the Redwood trees, it's the scent in the air, the ferns as big a volkswagons, the sound of the waves winding thru the giant forests. I gotta get over there this year.

It is amazing, and the photos do not even remotely do it justice…. We are a far cry from the Pacific Northwest now… it was 61 when we left our site, and as I type it is current 98 here in Nevada.

4 more hours to go and we can stop for the night…

Coming in to camp last night…

On the south side of the canyon today - There really is no such thing as a bad photo of the Grand Canyon…

Yep! Spent the day hiking the South rim. Tomorrow begins the hike down in. Taking the Bright Angel trail.  I’ll check  back in in a day or three!

The North rim is very different than the south.  More sloping sides, more green, and a lot fewer people!
Here are some photos from the North Kaibab Trail on the way out…

Yesterday found us traveling through Four Corners (Navajo Frybread!!!!) and then to Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado.  Totally different type of hiking there compared to the canyon!

Just like the Grand Canyon, photos don’t really help here. The dunes are the tallest in North America.  I’ve included a few distance shots to give you some perspective as the shot from a peak doesn’t look too impressive.

Onward to Nebraska!

I've always wanted to visit Four Corners!  I'd never heard of Great Sand Dune National Park, that's incredible!  How do you not know about stuff like that?!  That should be just as famous as Yosemite!  I didn't even know we had any genuine sand dunes in North America.  Was it difficult walking on them?

Parts were hard, others very soft.  There are some great dunes in Silver Lake State Park, Michigan you can rent jeeps you drive around through. Lots of fun!  Great Sand Dunes boasts the tallest sand dunes in North America and the park itself is about 30 square miles.

Today finds me in North Platte Nebraska. What’s in North Platte you ask?  The world’s largest rail yard would be the correct answer!  Union Pacific has a neat little spot called The Golden Spike Tower where you can watch over 10,000 cars a day be sorted for routes, repaired etc. Offering both an open air and enclosed observation deck (7 and 8 stories up respectively), it’s actually pretty cool. There is also some history of Union Pacific on display in the tower as well…

Thanks Jen! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. In that time has hit for me this year… 13 states, four national parks, hiked over 60 miles… All in all, a great trip! Thank you all for letting me share part of it with you. Now home to Wisconsin.

I was just informed, it’s 15 states if you count the two at four corners that we didn’t actually drive-through
