This is hard for me. Sweet Wife and I are very private, self reliant people and have a hard time asking for anything.
My 36 year old daughter is in the fight of her life. 3 years ago her doctor gave her up for dead, and I know that friends, acquaintances, and neighbors bowing their heads in prayer brought about a miraculous turnaround. Shes been strong and raising her two kids while finishing the house I built her ever since.
Well, the cancer is back and she has to have more surgery and treatment. As I write this, she and her boyfriend are driving to Minnesota to the Mayo clinic to arrange the surgery.
I ask, if anyone feels so inclined to please say a prayer for my little girl, Carrie.
Thanks'
Neill Sayers

There is early encouraging news. Carrie called and she is very pleased with her doc. They are assigning her a team of surgeons, an oncologist and a gastroenterologist. They indicated that the surgery may not be as involved as her local doc led her to believe. She has high confidence and renewed hope. :) :) :)

Well, daughter child had her surgery day before yesterday. They had to remove the upper lobe of her left lung. She's in the hospital as of this post because the lung was still leaking but she is improving and may come home tomorrow. Then, once she recovers from the surgery we will find out what chemo/radiation protocol she will have to endure. Like her mother shes a tough cookie.
I thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.
-
Thanks for the update Neil, tough road a head for your girl and your family. Sending blessings of speedy recovery, and some normalcy to return to your lives asap

I wanted to update this for all the sweet folks that joined us in prayers and healing vibes.
Carrie is going through chemo right now and of course, feeling miserable. I keep trying to get her to take a pic for all my internet beekeeping friends who have so kindly offered prayers and well wishes. She has promised me one soon.
The prognosis is quite grim but we remain hopeful.
This is one from about 10 years ago.

Neil:
Beautiful girl child, fun picture of her and boyfriend on a lark, and she shows a great sense of humor. That's a wonderful asset. I am distressed to hear the prognosis is grim. I will keep her in my prayers, and please believe that prayers are answered, maybe not the way we wish, but they are answered.
God bless you and your daughter and keep the faith.

Praying for Carrie, Neil. My daughter (Jackie) has an appointment at the Mayo clinic Jan. 24, 2017, her doctor wanted to put her on disability, but she said No, i'm going to keep teaching until i can't.Her boss said that was fine with him and if she needs anything what so ever, just let him know. She has a elec. scooter to get around on at school and we got her a lift chair for home. Her sons bosses mother passer away with ALS and still had her elec. wheel chair, and when he heard about Greg's mother( Jackie) he gave it to Jackie so she could have one at home. She is in good spirits every time we see her (i hope it's not for our sake) but it breaks my heart and her mothers to see her not able to walk. At school she has a student teacher to help her out and every teacher in the grade school and her boss stops by several times a day to offer her any help. The world is still full of good hearted, caring, loving people, regardless of what we see on the news every night. Been prying for iddee's daughter also, hope she's on the mend. Looks like the 3 of us daughters are in Gods hands. Thank all of you for caring and your prayers. Jack
-
I sent this thread to my daughter today. Maybe if you two could get them on here, it may help them to have someone to communicate about it with. Not very proper English there, but i hope you get my meaning.
-
Thanks Iddee,
I will definitely float the idea to her when I see her next.
Jack,
Still praying for your Jackie.
-
Neil, Jack and Iddee... Jiminy Christmas that is a lot to bear!

Our prayers and thoughts to all in this time of unimaginable circumstances.
Back in early '14 until mar. '15 i had 4 surgical procedures with a colostomy an reversal.
I found a forum called Inspire that was a God send and so helpful as is this forum is for beeks.
Our prayers are with ya'll
-
Hi Mikey, that is a procedure that takes time to heal from. My hubby has also had 3 surgeries, his veins get clogged up with plaque as fast the docs are putting stints into the arteries of his legs. And then 18 months ago an aneurism was found in his aeorta below his heart. It the time for all of us over 50 to go into continual repair mode. But it harder when it's our kids of any age.

Jack and Iddee,
I was at Carrie's yesterday for a Thanksgiving get-together. I showed her this thread and she read it through with tears in her eyes. She asked if you could pm me your daughter's e-mails she would like to get in touch with them for mutual support.
Riverbee, she was very touched by your offer when she was at Mayo.
-
neil...........
thoughts and prayers neil...........my heart goes out to you....
what can anyone say going through what you are? just know you have support here!
-
Thanks RB,
I stand in admiration of this young woman. She has always been a stunning looker and her looks are very important to her. Having to deal with an ostomy and the wicked scars from the surgeries have been rough on her.
Her boyfriend is a trooper, working tirelessly to care for her and her young'uns. After 6 years together, she finally asked him to marry her. He has asked many times and she said wait until I ask. :)
Well, he said yes. So Sweet Wife is all excited about planning a wedding. Fortunately for me all I have to do is show up and give her away! :)

Good news, Neil. I hope she continues to improve. I lost my daughter last Tuesday. We buried her today. It's an experience no parent should have to go through.

Prayers coming your way for your family.

Wally my family and I are all saddened by your loss. Carrie wanted me to tell you she enjoyed meeting her by correspondence and she will be missed.
-
Wally,i'm so sorry to hear this, from the post we had together i could tell she was a gem, she helped me pick on you a couple of times  My daughter isn't doing very good, has lost a lot of weight and has to be lift out and into her wheel chair.I dread to hear the phone ring. At my age (79) i have seen many relatives and friends lose sons and daughters and spouses. My heart bleeds for them and i want to say something that will give them comfort, but have never found the words. May God bless you and your family and give strength to all of you to carry on.Your Friend , Jack

To all my internet beekeeping friends. The cancer has returned and Carrie begins chemo again this week. She's been here before and as you can imagine is not looking forward to it all. I thank you all for your prayers and positive energy.
Jeannie, (Sweet Wife), has an idea that if she can get flooded with cards it may buck up her spirits. Here is the link:

Thanks B13,
Carrie is really struggling to stay positive. On the blessings side, my grandaughter is expecting in Nov. Carrie is trying to focus on that. I'm gearing up to be a "great" great paw paw. Gonna be building her a tiny house on our property. :)

Sadly I have to update this with sad news. Yesterday about 2AM our Carrie passed away. She was surrounded by close family and friends and in her husband's arms.
She fought the good fight. It has been close to ten years of near constant illness and pain. The last two have been exceptionally bad. Now she can rest.
For all on here who gave prayers and kind thoughts, I am very grateful.
