I thought it was through WWBK that I had found a posting on the original top bar hive design article including a link to YouTube about how the design came about. This also included the explanation of building hives with minimal materials, low cost, and overall how the design came to be. Now I can't find it. Anyone know here that thread is?

I have posted a few times on the topbar hive and the development of managed beekeeping that was done in the early 1980's in Kenya.
