Title: A few pics.
Post by: Perry on August 05, 2017, 05:32:28 pm
Was bottling yesterday for today's market. I ordered 10 dozen of a new size jar, a tiny oval hex jar that I have used in the past for wedding favours . They don't hold a lot of honey (110 ml) but they sold pretty good at the market too at $3.

I just use deeps set on end to sit on and hold the cases while I work. :D

I just started my first batch of creamed honey as well, people have been asking for it.

Hi Perry, where do you order your jars from.  We need to order a few cases.  A few years pack we had some with a honey comb design on the jar and also printed on the lid, but we can't remember where we got them.  Thanks 40 Acre Bees

I get my jars from Richards Packaging in Burnside Industrial Park. They have a minimum order. If you want some let me know what sizes and how many and I'll piggy-back you on one of my orders.
The jars you mentioned with the comb pattern in the glass are from Dominion and Grimm, and a few years ago their prices skyrocketed so I stopped using them. People want what's in the jars!

How did your creamed honey turn out? Fine textured and smooth on the tongue I hope.

very true perry!  but sometimes the jar just makes it an even 'sweeter' purchase'!.............. :D

That has been my experience to.
For creamed honey, folks around here use plastic tubs with lids.
I just got some starter yesterday from my "special" source.  It makes the best creamed honey!  This year I have to remember not to sell it all so that I have my own starter to work with!  :D

90% your own honey this year, 99% your honey next year. You do need to pay attention to the crystal structure as it can become courser over consecutive batches. At times you need to start over again.
