Thread Start Date
« on: April 08, 2014, 08:26:43 am »
With my present forum set up, I see the thread topic and the name of the originator.

Can I amend the settings so that the date of the thread start is also displayed without having to open the thread ?

I hope this makes sense.    A thread has had 27 replies. Without going into the thread, I cannot tell if this is a hot topic or an old one.   :'(

you make sense barbarian, down the left side of any board, you will see what looks like folders. at the very bottom on the left hand side you will see this
legend as to what those folders mean:

as far as amending settings so the date is displayed. there is no option for this in our profile settings for look and layout.

Riverbee is correct, there is no personalization option for the boards.   Hot topics are identified by the left most icon.   Any topic that has new responses since last viewing the topic will have an orange "new" button next to the topic title.  Clicking on the orange button will take you to the last spot you viewed in the thread so you can start reading the responses you have not seen.    If you want to go to the very last response,  click on the far right icon in the board view.

Thanks for the responses and the info in them. I am unsure if my query has been explained well enough. By using the term "hot topic", I fear that I have caused confusion.

From the home page, I click on  "Show unread posts since last visit". I get a list of threads which shows title, originator, no. of replies and last member posting. If there are two threads each with 20 replies, I cannot tell which one of these was posted yesterday and which one was started 3 months ago. In such a case, I would prefer to read the thread which was posted yesterday.
