Re: hive yard maintenence
mamapoppybee:
What is the risk when mowing around or near hives? How do you all work through this task.
Riverrat:
Welcome aboard. Normally I don't have any problems mowing around the hives. A lot depends on the time of the year. The vibration from the mower is what will cause the problems. Usually I have found the bees will move towards the exhaust and go after it. I would recommend wearing a beesuit and a veil if you are going to mow around a hive.
Perry:
4 strokes like the mower and such, no problem!
2 strokes like the whipper snipper or leaf blower, look out!
iddee:
Mower=fine.
weed eater on half choke=fine.
Weed eater on run= you better run
Diesel tractor = you can't run fast enough.
mamapoppybee:
well with the advice to wear bee suit it sounds like me itting up and running the push mower round my little hive haven. ill cut around hive with headge sheers alot safer than the old weedeater :D
