#1 Comb Boxes
« on: October 04, 2015, 12:39:38 pm »
This is a shot in the dark. I have an internet beekeeper friend, he's way up there in years and has been beeking all of his life. He asked me where can he get the #1 comb boxes that he used way back in the day.

Does anyone know about these type of boxes?

And, why are they different than the boxes manufactured today?

UPDATE: This is a copy/paste of this mans email. Now that I've read this latest comment from my friend, I think what he is looking for is shallows.

"Dick calls them 1 pound boxes.  They are tongue and groove and they fit flat in the container... Does that make sense?  They are for collecting comb"

Hi G3 ~ that's what I was thinking as well, I feel like he's asking for mediums and shallows, but he call the 1# boxes, or 1 pound boxes.

no, each little split box weighs in at a little more than a pound each, there are 28 of these boxes in a super, which is only 4 3/4" tall, smaller than a shallow.
