Senior citizen swarm catching

(1/3) > >>

iddee:
This time of year, I carry a nuc box, a 10 frame hive, and a step ladder on my truck, just in case I have an easy call.
Yesterday, I went out to go somewhere and noticed several bees on the landing board of the 10 frame hive. I lifted the lid, and sure enough, I had about 4 frames of bees.

MY KIND OF SWARM CATCHING!    ;D

Zweefer:
Must be rough! :eusa_doh: :eusa_clap:

Well, that's convenient!
I seem to recall that happened to Brooksbeefarm one time too!
A few years ago, a seasoned beekeeper scolded me for not carrying swarm catching gear.  "We're in the middle of swarm season!"  I called him when I spotted a swarm at work.  I don't remember why I had unloaded my gear, but remember I had just done it the day before.

I have had bees move into assembled hives in my shed on numerous occasions... unfortunately, they were my own swarms...    Mowed the yard today for the first time, Dandelions are out in force!

:eusa_clap:  That’s the way to do it!
