Title: Swarm Trap Activity
Post by: Les on May 20, 2018, 05:14:46 pm
Trap has been up since the end of April.  Got some lookie Lous since them but today the visits have increased.
I put a stethoscope on the box and could hear a lot of buzzing.  Think I might have some new tenants soon?
I hope!

They are curious.  I hope you catch a swarm!  Are you using any lemongrass oil or nasanov pheromone or old comb?

I see room for optimism there.  :)

Good luck!

I had bees check out my swarm trap early last week, and then they were gone within an hour.  Two days later, scouts were back.  But they, too, left.

Earlier this year I had scout bees check out the box, then disappear, then two days later I had caught a swarm.  I don't know if they were the same bees or not.

Those first bees may not have been mean enough to stay at your house.  You just never know about bees.   ;)

So much activity today  (and it’s kind of dreary and damp) I thought maybe I missed something but none of them are bringing in pollen as my other hives are......patience.  Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!

Les,
I set up 1- 5 frame nuc. last year. Had bees going in an out like that for a week. Was out of town working (wifey) said they stopped coming for 4 days.  Then bingo,  she sent me this pic. on Friday.  Couldn't get home fast enough.
