Good article there as well.  THe picture of his sugar cake did make me lift an eyebrow..  I would put about six of those on top of each hive. The BIG blocks I use are often at least half gone if we have a bad winter;





   A lot depends on where you live and your bees.. if you have russians your winter work/prep is not going to be as difficult. If you live further south you also dont have to struggle as much.
   BTW, boto hives pictured still had a LOT of reserves left in their hives. They just could not get TO them because it was SO COLD that winter...  when it started to warm up, they left the sugar and went back to the honey.
