I sure wish I knew what you are trying to get across to me  :laugh:

I don't know about raising chickens. But the gal two doors over has chickens and an open bag of chicken feed, and my bees are all over it.

Is this okay?

Jen, there are 5 or 10 different chicken feeds on the market. I have no idea what she is feeding them. On top of that, people feed chickens things that aren't chicken feed, like oyster shells. She may also be feeding steroids, anti-biotics, or other meds mixed with the feed. You need to get more details.

A bag of such placed on the lid (flat roof) would;
*insulate during summer and winter
*serve well to hold the lid down (windy location)
*provide a distraction for ants
*tell the chickens (chooks) famine isn't in the picture

So yes, allowing a little lateral thinking ito the apiary would do no harm.. I'd reckon.

Cheers.
