Title: I really need a Honey House
Post by: Bakersdozen on August 10, 2020, 09:58:15 am
This morning, I feel like Ray Milan in the Lost Weekend.

We harvested honey all weekend and I just feel sore from head to toe and my brain is foggy.  I know my husband's back is SORE!  He was my designated lifter.
I gave my new extractor a work out and it got the job done.  Next year I would love to have an affordable decapper.  The electric knife is good, but ... And I need a better system for filtering.  Now is the time to think about these things while it's still fresh on the mind.

If I had a honey house, I wouldn't need to harvest all in one weekend.  I could separate the light spring honey from the later, darker honey, etc etc.  I could store my equipment and free up the garage. The situation is getting to where I need alternatives.

Does anyone have any suggestions, from their experiences, on setting up a honey house?  Is anyone else daydreaming like me?

Definitely dreaming with you. I will have one as part of my workshop when it gets built.  It’s just a question of when that gets built... going on over 10 years of having it pushed back for another project my wife would rather have done instead - new deck, finished basement etc.  not bad or unnecessary projects mind you, but still delayed it’s construction...

I delayed mine until it never got built.
