Fall Oxalic Acid sublimation
« on: November 16, 2019, 02:59:06 pm »
Today the weather cooperated, so I did my fall oxalic acid vaporization treatments on the hives in the back yard.  Last weekend was even better, but I found out my Harbor Freight portable power pack had bit the dust.  I knew I would have another opportunity to get them done, just didn't realize it would be so soon!  I'm a happy camper. I hope to get the rest of the hives done too.

Hey Baker, what model of vaporizer do you use?

Mine is a Heilyser that I purchased 10 years ago.

This is what mine is.  I bought it about 5 years ago and it was a lot less expensive then.   :D  I guess that was before Kansas approved OA treatments.
But, if you calculate how many years of use you get out of a vaporizer, it's a good deal.  Oxalic acid is inexpensive.  Some mite treatments are quite expensive and the costs add up quickly when you have multiple hives.

Agreed. I have only used OA for 10 years now. My Heilyser has been a champ until a couple years ago. I thought maybe it was loosing its juice, but hubby did a thorough clean, scrape, new screws, checked all the wiring and found one wire to be disconnected. He got it up and running like new.

OMG! That Is Hilarious! My mother said that to me one time yeeears back. I was enjoying wrapping holiday gifts and thought hubby could go make himself a tuna sandwich for Pete's Sake. It didn't occur to him... then. My mother showed up at the door and scolded me for not making dinner first  :D  :D
