Medical Question
(1/1)
Jen:
I know, I know, it's one of Jen's weird questions... If a woman is pregnant and has an allergic reaction to the venom, will the baby be affected?
Bakersdozen:
You won't find PhD after my name, but were the mother to go into anaphylactic shock and not get enough oxygen, I believe the fetus would be endangered. Also, she might have a hard time finding a bee suit to fit!
Seriously though, do you remember all the changes your body went through while you were pregnant? A woman that previously didn't have a bad reaction to stings, might have an issue while pregnant.
Jen:
Good info there Baker. I'll make sure my petite pregnant friend stays completely suited up.
iddee:
Two answers, one smarta** and one serious.
1...If the reaction is fatal, yes, it affects the fetus :o
2...There are two reactions. One by blood, and one by skin. If by blood, the fetus will be affected. If by skin, I do not know.
