Title: trapped some bees
Post by: rober on May 17, 2018, 02:17:54 pm
I have a friend who wants to try beekeeping but is living hand to mouth. I've found & shared some deals on used equipment that over the last year. last month he was telling me he thought there were some hives nearby & that he had had several swarms land in the same place in his yard. 2 weeks ago I put some lemon grass oil & I a frame of drawn comb in an 8 frame nuc & had him put it where the swarms had landed. last sunday he rang me & excitedly told me that HE HAD BEES!!!!
I had mother's day company so I had him come by the house & gave him an inner cover & bottom board & enough frames to fill out a deep. so we have another keeper in the fold. i'll go thru the hive with him this weekend.

I have taken him under my wing. my quarantine yard is behind the body shop that he works at so been observing both the bees & my activities.
