Anna is interested in beekeeping and has come along with us on numerous inspections so we got her fixed up with a jacket/veil combo, gloves and a pink hive tool. Went to check one of the outwards and looky what we found!

Caught a swarm! Went through a couple hives under the watchful eye of dad.

She got stung on the leg and complained less than Josh and I do! Had a LOT of fun. Looking forward to many more days in the bee yard with her! Ted

You're a Granddad? :o :o
-
Oh yes, I'm not as young as I once was. She's 13 and been going through hives with us since we got started, hence the decision to get her some better protection and a lot more hands on. She's a tiny thing and doesn't have the strength to lift full size hive bodies, medium or deep, so we're putting her "in charge" of the nucs. I told her if she can keep them going and get them through the winter, we can sell them and she'll get half the cash. She'll get all of it but don't tell her yet! My grandson also has a big interest in beekeeping but we don't get to see him as often. I'm hoping he'll get a car soon and maybe that will change!

Another generation of beekeepers on the way!

Wowzers. I'll be 58 in June and I have a 14 year old son! :o

Maybe we should introduce them!? Er, is that not what you were getting at? Yeah yeah yeah, I was pretty young when the kids were born. Three kids, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. I, as I hope everyone does, LOVE my life. It's a blast when we all get together! Ted

Tickled pink for ya Ted, love those pics :)

Way to go! I bet she gets too busy for bees by the time she is 16, but she WILL remember, and get bees once she has settled down a bit.. thats how it worked for me...
My parents are 17, and 18 years older than i am.. I LOVED my grandpa, and spent a LOT of time with him... I wanted to do the same with my grandkids, so got married early... didnt work out well marrying your best friend and then going off overseas in the service... BUT, I still managed to be married and have kids with my second wife by the time I was 22, hoping and praying for grandkids early so i could spend a LOT of time with them.... nope... kids are now 27 and have NO PLANS to EVER have children... What is up with that????? I am going to disown both of them!!!!! Yeah, i am that ticked that they are so selfish as to not want kids...

I have some you can borrow Lazy...

Borrow, Heck, I have two you can have.
And if he does, you could then adopt me! :) ;D
-
Thanks Everyone! I forgot to also say that each hive she went through (2), she found the queen BEFORE dad saw her! Way to go Anna!
Lazy: Some would sell, others would give, I'm slowly becoming more business minded so I'd RENT you a few! Ted

Look out Zweefer,i think perry's looking for a home? his wife is probably tired of shoveling the snow and looking for a young hired hand. :o Jack

LOL
Perry, I am a bit worried about you old son. Your wife hasnt started going to Chip and Dales and hanging out at the local college has she? Remember, bee stings in the right places can promote swelling!
Sorry Perry, couldnt help myself.. and, your always welcome here! I have LOTS of work a capable beekeeper could keep themselves occupied with!!!!
