Title: nautical swarm
Post by: rober on April 19, 2021, 08:33:31 pm
a couple years ago the Stl P.D. called in a fire dept ladder truck to to help me get a swarm in the midst of a marathon run. i was called to the local bsnf train yard to get a swarm that rode in from Topeka on a boxcar. BUT today is the best to date. there was a swarm on a barge. after arriving at the barge terminal i was ferried out to the barge on a tugboat. the boat crew watched from a distance while i retrieved the girls. i caught the queen in a clip & put her in a nuc box. this might have been a secondary swarm with a virgin queen because the bees were not attracted to my box like they usually are when you have the queen. so bottom line is i caught the swarm got a ride on a tug on the Mississippi & I got paid. I'll post some photos when I figure out how to transfer the photos to my PC.
