Wow! How bizarre, she's a bute! exotic even :)
-
Hey Yankee! I just saw a pic of your queen. I think you have a VHS, Varroa Specific Hygiene queen there. Nice Catch buddy!
I was reading a link that River posted for me on 'Queen Introduction'.
This is the title of the highlighted post "Queen Introduction Instructions Glenn Apiaries"
-
Where at? On this forum?
-
Yeah! Go to 'General Beekeeping', find 'Queen Installation', scroll down 6 posts. River gave me two links on to read. click on "Queen Introduction Instructions Glenn Apiaries". Read down a bit and there is pictures of varroa resistant queens. One of them is heavily striped like yours.
-
Looks just like one.
I wonder?
-
I had a tiger striped queen like that out of a cut out.. It took me forever to finally find her.. Once I realized she was striped it was easier to find her after that.. Unfortunately after the cut out she never built up. I am hoping I find more like her.
-
yankee, irregardless of what she is, (i would think she is or has some carni in her). those dark queens are beauties, they are stinkers to find sometimes, great pictures!
-
Your right about that River, after I took the pictures I lost her and never saw her again. :)
She hasn't started laying yet but should be any day now. Been 7 days since I got the swarm. They are pulling comb and I added a couple empty
drawn frames. Will stay out for another week or so just to be safe.
-
Man I wish I could figure out how to take nice pictures like that, especially the close ups.
-
I just use my phone.
Samsung Galaxy 3. Set to Macro mode. Nothing special.
-
Very unique! And, she would be hard to find.
-
Beauty of a tiger stripe!
Hope she does well for you.
-
My daughter uses her phone as well and gets real nice pics up very close! Starting to think about switching out my clam shell. but I hesitate cause I just don't need another technical instrument to take me away from vacuuming
-
Mine vacuums also..
It's amazing what they can do with technology now days.

PBbphhahhaha~ :D Well I sure need a housekeeper to get me back on track! All this swarming plus work plus husband plus grandkids plus trip to coast plus labrador....
-
K, heres a trick.. I videoed myself vaccuuming.. then looped it, and plugged into the TV... Wife called, said she was on her way home.. asked what I was doing... I said vacuuming, I been vacuuming all day...
I have NO CLUE why she wasnt amused when she walked in...
I thought taking a nap and vacuuming at the same time was very efficient!!!
-
Perfect! :D
-
It is a wonders she let you wake up from that nap!
