Cheese Honey?
« on: February 28, 2014, 08:16:53 pm »
I saw this in an Earthfare grocery store today in the cheese section.  It says it perfectly accompanies fine cheese.  $9.99 a bottle.  The part below the label is crystallized, the part above it is not.  It's from Savannah, GA.  The label says it's 100% honey.

I can think of a lot of things I like with honey, but cheese never really crossed my mind. I think it's weird. :-\

sort of caught my attention, savannah bee company sells varietal honeys (and honey comb) in attractive jars. they also sell 'grill honey', for grilling, and 'tea honey' but this is from their website on it:

Savannah Bee Company Cheese Honey

"Savannah Bee Company Cheese Honey is 100% pure honey hand-selected to best pair with a wide range of fine cheeses. Softly sweet honey flavors tame the tang of a creamy blue and brightly complement salty Manchego or an aged Gouda. Instantly upgrade any appetizer cheese tray, or try a slice of aged artisan cheddar with honey and sliced apples as an alternative to dessert. For a fantastic lunch treat, try dipping your grilled cheese sandwich in this incredible honey! KSA Kosher Certified."

interesting marketing?

i do sell comb honey and give out a sheet with it suggesting what to serve it with, and a variety of cheeses is on the list....

Are you kidding me!?!?

What do you think cheesecake is? It's CHEESE and SUGAR! Not much different than CHEESE and HONEY. It's the pungent mixed with the sweet. A perfect party in the mouth ~

Maybe that's why I think it's weird, I don't like cheesecake.   :P

It is misleading labeling to some extent it is a honey that they have selected that they think goes well with cheese. But we all know that my honey is the best for that. It is like when someone tells you that some type of wine goes good with steak but i don't want wine with my steak I want a beer.

It could run into troubles in the UK as Dragon Sausage did over their labeling

If they can´t call it "'Welsh Dragon Sausage' " with out saying it doesnt have dragon meat in it they should also inform the customers that there is not any meat from "Welsh" people either, which would be a more likely ingredient being that dragons are fictional and welsh people are real  :D
