How did you choose your screen name?
« on: February 25, 2015, 05:28:44 pm »
When the internet was just getting started, my son wanted to sign me up. He said, "you need an ID other than your own name for a screen name".
So I said, use ID. It was taken. Idee was taken. Iddee was free. I have used it ever since.

Well, I got tired of everyone thinking I was Tom Magnum, so I thought I better straighten everyone out and decided to just use my real name. :P

I've been Tay to everyone who knows me, with the exception of some very stubborn family members (yep, mom and dad included) for the last 26 years.  And I'm a lady.
Apparently, another Tay considers herself a lady, too...thus the extra y.  lol

great thread iddee! enjoying!

riverbee......
the short version................ :D  i live on a river, and i love rivers, and i keep bees........soooo riverbee!

the long version........... :D

About riverbee:

ABOUT BEES:
“What is this dark hum among the roses?
I have found them-haven’t you?---
Stopped in the very cups of the flowers, their wings
a little tattered-so much flying about, to the hive,
then out into the world, then back, and perhaps dancing,
should the task be to be a scout-sweet, dancing bee.
I think there isn’t anything in this world I don’t admire.
bend close to study and
understand what is happening.  It’s not hard, it’s in fact
As instructive as anything I have ever studied.  Plus, too,
it’s love almost too fierce to endure, the bee
nuzzling like that into the blouse
of the rose.  And the fragrance, and the honey, and of course
the sun,  the purely pure sun, shining, all the while, over
all of us.”

---Mary Oliver

ABOUT RIVERS:
"It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us……now, nearly all those I loved and did not understand when I was young are gone, but I still reach out to them.
...Then in the arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the big Blackfoot river and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise.
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.  The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.  On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops.  Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters."

---Norman MacLean “A River Runs Through It”

remember, you asked!

The first house I built for my wife, started out well. Foundation dug, poured, etc.. Sill plates down, floor, and walls went up.. Rafters put on, roof done, windows in..   all of these things, my wife saw DONE when she came home from work.. and then came the wiring, and plumbing, as well as the ducting for the heating and AC system..   She could no longer see anything being done, about ten days after I set the breaker panel in place and began running wires, she was in tears. REAL tears, and as angry as I have ever known her to be..  I was called a Lazy Ba$&^@% among many other things..   I packed up my stuff and left, notified the lawyer we were separated and I wanted papers drawn up for divorce.
In the meantime, the wife hired someone to finish the house..   He told her, the wiring was almost done, a weeks worth of work he didnt need to do..  She asked about the plumbing, he told her it was done, she asked about the ducting, it was all assembled and ready to hang, shouldnt take him more than a week to wrap up what had already been started.

Back then, Cell phones were big things rich people owned, so she ended up coming to the dealership I worked at, I asked her to leave..  she started a campaign of notes, flowers etc, all the things a guy might do to catch a girl..  I was quite annoyed, but eventually, i agreed to meet her for dinner. She took me to my favorite restaurant, McDonalds....
For the first time,  the ONLY time, the LAST time, she said she was sorry, she was wrong.....   I wish I could have a tape recorder back then....
I  went back.  Building her barn, the gun shop, the riding arena, etc, etc..  I would occasionally take a break, and she would inevitably ask if I had permission from the boss to take that break. I would say no, I'm just being a lazy Ba$#@&^, and we would laugh...
When she convinced me to get my own bees, she decided I wasnt a lazy ba$#&^% any more, now I could be a Lazy Beekeeper instead...
Someone else uses Lazy Beekeeper, so I shortened it up to LazyBkpr.

That is funny.  It seems like home renovation or construction is about as stressful to a relationship as anything!  I can’t even count how many people just about broke up over home renovation stuff.  It never goes quickly, smoothly, or cheaply. :'(

Years ago after my mother passed, we inherited her computer. It was our first computer. We needed a new password to log on. My hubby asked what the password should be, I suggested Jaybird because my mother loved her squawky jaybirds and wrote stories about them, such fond memories of mom and her Jays. When I joined the forum I was first Jaybird, but has since changed to Jen  :)

And Yes! when I see a Jaybird in my yard, every day, I say Hi Mom...  ;)

When I first got married my step-children called me by my given name, Keith.  As time wore on they weren't comfortable with Dad so my daughter started calling me Papakeith.  It worked so it became my screen name.
I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

I grew up on one of those typical 1950's era Minnesota dairy farms where you only had 30 - 40 cows, a flock of chickens and a lot of old horse machinery lined up in the grove.  In a way it was more of a typical 1930's farm in that if the modern equipment broke down we didn't stop to fix it.  One of my uncles would be the mechanic while the rest of us grabbed pitchforks, corn husking pins or whatever earlier technology was necessary to get the job done.
Between my knowledge of working with older farm machines, owning a few Model T Fords and my tendency to stick to older practices my Dad used to refer to me as "the throwback".  By my kid's terms I'm very "retro" so Retroguy seemed like a reasonable screen name.   :-\

I lived all over the midwest then Kentucky as a child and had a northern accent, a southern accent, an in between no one could tell where I was from, saw about 40 states before the age of 18, I have a LOT of diverse interests, and if you put all my friends in one giant room there would be funerals for sure., so I am kind of a gypsy.  The i makes it feminine.

My screen name started 15+ years ago(by my wife),I would pick my daughters up from preschool and when I would show up they would yell
"king daddy!!" .Not sure why but it stuck. And it drove the teachers and the other moms crazy because they thought I made them do it,
Of course I did not discourage it because it was fun to mess with them ;D

Friends of ours picked up on it and I'm referred to as "the king"  because of my daughters, and I retired early(kings don't work according to them).
