Title: Queen Rearing Follies
Post by: Bee Commander on March 25, 2016, 10:21:32 am
Grafted a small batch into a newly created cell builder a couple of days ago. I checked the grafts few days later and had zero acceptance. I was soo disappointed  thinking geez I suck at this!. I was making up Nucs same day and went to the boomer hive that I made most of the new cell builder out of. I found 5 emergency queen cells. I went right back to the cell builder and of course found the queen! Two steps forward and three back! At least I gained another Nuc with the emergency cells.
The weather is amazing here and its all I can do to keep ahead of my hives to keep them from swarming. Everything is a couple of weeks early here.

I've had plenty of days like that.  ;D At least there was no damage done.

I've got virgin queens emerging in the incubator now and grafted 150 a couple of days ago.
I use the cloake board method.
I graft with the german grafting tool using royal jelly.
If I can stay out of the hospital I'll graft again next Monday.

lets hope you DO stay out of the hospital Capt..   Pulling for you!!
Looks like things are a couple weeks ahead of schedule here as well..   It annoys me that the bees did not wait until I was ready!!!
