Title: Earliest ever by 10 days
Post by: Alleyyooper on May 11, 2015, 08:47:33 am
Saturday morning I am getting ready to eat breakfast and the phone rings. Kare grabs it up as it is our daughters birthday and expected her to call.
Well it wasn't our daughter but a birthday girl never the less and said she had a swarm in a white pine tree on the back of their property. She wanted information< got the feeling she was wanting to place them in a hive and keep them but after answering all her questions she asked if I could come Sunday and get them if they were still there. I told her I could be there in probably less than a hour but she said she was going to a baseball game and before out for lunch and supper after the game.
About a hour later she calls back and said the bees were still there and it was selfish of her to not let me come get them. I got there in time she got to see me set up and start getting them in the hive. Took a bit over an hour.

Poor lady went to the ball game and the home town team got creamed big time.

My story last year was being a day late and a doller short..  I managed to get to one swarm as it rose and vanished...   Luck finally fell on me and I managed a small swarm..  Hoping this year will be better, but lots of empty bee trees.

It was 7 feet up just over my head.
Those darn white pine needles are a pain to get bees out of.
