nice little swarm
« on: December 06, 2013, 03:21:10 pm »
was at the bee hives at my house and then all of a sudden the air was full of bees, knew what it was but they were not coming out of any of my hives, I watched for a few minutes and then a ball the size of maybe 2 grapefruits formed on a branch in the yard so I grabbed a nuke and 4 wet frames and went for it, I held a wet frame above them on the branch and they started to climb on to it then I saw the queen walk on, so I quickly climbed down the 8 foot ladder (I was  on the top of) and grabbed her and into a queen cage with 4 workers, into the bottom of the box she went and then just tied the box in the tree and watched the rest march in.

Good catch, nothing better than them coming to you. Good reason to keep a couple of swarm traps out.
Bees are bees and do as they please!
