I understand it is still cold up north. Perry asked for pics of warmth.
We had "cold Canadian air" blow down from the north last night, so we were a little cool this morning at 46F, but that didn't stop our birds from flying. We should hit 72 today, after a record breaking 91F yesterday.
Anyway, this is for you, Perry:
https://youtu.be/R5Q8TLLLZyk
This was shot from inside, so sadly, you can't hear the music of the birds.
-
That is soo Cool Wman! We are drenched in rain today, then a few days of sun. Might not be warm days but my birds will out and about.
-
That looks like a bird sanctuary! :o
You must drop some kind of coin in birdseed.
Ahhhhh, green grass, ahhhhhhh.
-
wow very cool video! very much enjoyed! thank you!
-
Hey Perry,
Drove by your house today:

What? And you didn't stop in? I'm sitting here with a wine rack full of mead and all sorts. After enough of those we wouldn't even notice the snow!
-

-
Spring is on it's way.
This is a lengthy (11 minutes) and boring video, but for those of you still struggling with snow or cold, I thought you might be able to imagine what it's like when things get warm again:
https://youtu.be/P8mvL_jbMGM
This is the aftermath of our first ever attempt to split a hive, combining that little cluster of bees that was already in the nuc with two frames of brood and a frame of honey.
-
Great video, and no, it isn't boring for those of us up here! :)
Green grass = Ahhhhh
Birds chirping = Ahhhh
Bees flying = Ahhhh
Even the plane at the end of the video sounded nice.
The only thing missing was you two actually going through the nuc, I kept waiting for you to do it.
-
;D ;D ;D
Bee careful what you ask for!
Here are two more 12 minute videos of us prior to the first one I published.
https://youtu.be/Wbf3rfuXJ0U
https://youtu.be/j4BYazqlxuE
I'm still uploading the other three videos to YouTube.
-
One more:
https://youtu.be/sbfZ8lWzC8U
You can tell we're amateurs. But, I did finally get to see eggs in cells.
Unless that was lint ....
-
Okay, this is the last one I'll post here:
https://youtu.be/cunfzF1xbk4
-
Actually, we put 2 frames of brood and 2 frames of honey. Wandering Man just misstyped.
-
wandering man and 3reds...........these are great videos, and i appreciate you uploading them and sharing with us, thank you very much!
i enjoyed! like perry said, not boring, and far from being boring! gives us all a visual of how others are working/keeping bees in your environment!
again, thank you very much!

Are these pictures of the flowers from today or last spring, if today they sure are coming out to soon for I have here some wild flowers and one tulip tree and we have had a few petty warm days here like 84 today.

Awesome vids and pictures!
three days ago it was 75 Degrees.. today we have snow on the ground and its COLD out there! WELCOME to the midwest! Unfortunately... my bees are NOT amused. The trees are not amused either.. we have buds open on the maples and locust.... WHich means there will be a crappy flow because this cold will KILL those open buds.

Lots of rain the last couple of days, but things are starting to bloom.

The vegetable garden is doing okay, except that something keeps eating the leaves off of her bell peppers.

The rains over the last two days have been gentle, but steady, filling our front drainage ditch almost to the buttercups.

- 16 C (3 F ) here this weekend. I won't be surprised if this does in some of the nucs that had made it this far.

I'd heard it was supposed to get cold up there again. Just thought you'd like to be reminded that Spring really does still exist.
Our unusual weather has resulted in rainfall 5" above normal for the first 2 1/2 months of 2017.
