This might be something you are interested in. I met this fellow online in the UM master beekeeping class. He is doing interesting work with hygienic lines of bees and his nucs are on medium frames.

The hives are remarkably spaced and even, perfectly painted. It's obvious that ample time is taken with these bees and their welfare.

And the mites thank him also as hives perfectly spaced, all painted the same, at the same height, facing the same direction, leads to more bee drifting ans as they drift the equalize the mite population through out the yard. It does look impressive but you will not find me doing it.
