I think we had a successful day yesterday at our Beginning Beekeeping Class.  There were 160 registered and numerous walk ins.  The late registrations and walk in were welcome, but that makes it hard to order lunch and enough presentation notes.  The weather was a big factor regarding the late registrations and walk ins.  An ice storm closed schools on Friday, but the region recovered quickly.  The presentation notes included a section containing this free publication from the Honey Bee Health Coalition.  https://honeybeehealthcoalition.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/HBHC_Hive_BMPs_v1.0_reduced.pdf It will be nice for the beginners to have it easily accessible in a professionally printed binder that lays flat and is in color.
This publication is free to download if you are interested.  It's great for beginners.
The topics we covered were Honey Bee Biology and Basics, Equipment (Langstroth), Installing a package of bees and getting started, What does a healthy hive look like and Summer Management, Pests and Diseases, Fall and Winter Management, and a brief overview of our Bee Club and what it has to offer.

We are going to follow up with Year 2 and Beyond in mid- February.
