Title: Apple Bread
Post by: Zweefer on May 20, 2020, 10:06:48 am
this is an old family recipe that my 14 year old son recently came across while looking for something to make during lock down, and is now made on a somewhat regular basis...

Bread:
2 Cups Flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups chopped apples
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup nuts
Additional 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 tsp cinnamon

Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt together.
Cream butter, sugar and eggs.  Add apples, nuts, and vanilla. Stir.
Stir in flour mixture. Pour batter in bread pan. sprinkle with mixture of 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 tsp cinnamon.
Bake 1 hour at 350˚

That sounds good, Zweefer.  Do you peel the apples?  If you are in a hurry, can you substitute applesauce?

I do not peel the apples. As for applesauce, I’ve never tried it... it would be different without the apple chunks in it, but there really is only one way to find out, isn’t there?
