Can last year's uncapped but now fermented honey be feed back to the bees as part of fall feeding program?

Can give them dysentry so make sure its flying weather if you do.

Hi Blair, not sure what you mean by fermented honey? do you mean crystalized honey?

Uncapped harvested honey with more than 18% water will sometimes ferment over time due to wild yeast content. I have approx 8lb left over from last years harvest and I'm wondering if it would be safe to feed back to the bees.

Jen, fermented honey is what they use to make mead with.

Alcohol is poisonous to bees. So be sure if you do feed it back to them, it is in small amounts. Also, as RAST Indicated, it has been known to give them dysentery… So make sure it is nice enough weather for them to handle that as well. If it were me, I would either make Mead, or dispose of it.

i have some fermented honey & offered it to a friend who makes mead. he says its
 not suitable for making mead.
