Worst Day of Our Lives
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:27:58 pm »
My daughter,( Jackie, 50 yrs. old last June the 6th) has been having back problems and having trouble walking. 6  years ago she had back surgery and the removed a disk, three years before that she had bells palsy. She has  continued to teach 2nd grade and walking with a walker, but the last month she has been having trouble lifting her feet and having spasms in both legs. She has seen several doctors and had 11 MRI's :o. Today my wife took her to her new Neurologist that has went through all of her records and test, and she has to go in the mourning for a final test that will tell us for sure if she has ALS? the doctor has said she thinks it's ALS, the slow type and we will know in the mourning. We need your prayers, she has a 8 year old son, 20 year old daughter and a 26 year old son. My son-in-law is having a hard time accepting it, along with the rest of us. It's in Gods Hands now. Jack
PS. what we can't understand is it's inherited, and we have checked both sides of our families and no one has ever had ALS that we know of as far back as great, great grandparents???

I'm right there with you, Jack. They operated on my 46 y/o daughter about 5 weeks ago. Cut from ribs to pelvis. Removed a large tumor and 30 lymph nodes.  7 nodes and tumor were cancerous. She starts chemo next week.
I'll cry for you and maybe you can shed one tear for me. Hopefully, both of them will be here for many more years.

Jack and Iddee:

My heart goes out to both of you.  It is so sad when our children are in harms way.  I will gladly keep both of you on my prayer list.  In times like this, I often think of the quote: "The ways of Heaven are a mystery to me."  I don't understand why some people are chosen for death and illness and others seem to live a blessed life.  For sure, it is a mystery, but as the saying goes, "there is no Heaven on earth."  One can only imagine the pain both of you are going through.  God be with you both and so will this old fellow that loves you both.

sorry to hear that iddee, i put your daughter in my prayers and will continue.I hope this is good news? we met our daughter and her husband at the clinic at 7:20 am this mourning to run a EMG test? (a upper boby test and it didn't show signs of ALS but they are sure it's a form of it. She (the doctor) said she would set up a referral  to the Mayo clinic. The doctor said she doesn't know what is going on that she has two other patient's that are older with the same symptom's. Thank all of you for your prayers, Now all we can do is hope and wait, Please keep us in your prayers. Your friend, Jack

Iddee,

This is the hardest thing anyone can go through. To see the look in our child's eyes (no matter how old) and see she is fearing for her life. It's tough, man, and I will pray for your daughter, you and your family.

So sorry to hear that your daughter is going through all this, nothing worse than when it is your child no matter their age.  I will send her positive energy.
