End table
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:01:29 pm »
The wife was complaining because I fill up the table between our chairs with my JUNK then theres no room for her to put HER stuff on, so I decided to make a couple of tables. One for each of us..
I am just starting to sand this one last time for the final coat of Spar urethane..  tossed it together for pictures...  It IS actually a hive, and could be used as such at this point..  but it will be fastened together when the urethane is dry. The two top mediums will have frames in them, the bottom box will have a light.
Hoping they will make for some good conversation pieces as well as good end tables!!!

Great idea, I have thought at times of doing the same thing (never occurred to me to use glass on the top though, nice touch).
I have also though about putting a couple of fake hives on either side of the driveway like gate posts. Anyone looking to find us wouldn't have to bother looking for the house number. The only problem with it is I'm sure it would create issues with complaints from folks who thought they were real.

I like that Idea Perry..  No worries about ppl here..   I suppose you could take them by th hand and go SHOW them that those hives are not real...    If your luck is like mine, you will find a swarm moved into BOTH of them the night before....

That is one sweet looking end table. Wow, wish I'd thought of it myself.

Put another coat of spar urethane on tonight, will put the last coat on tomorrow. Need to get the light for it in and set up. Will get a picture of it when I bring it home and set it up.

Gotta hand it to you Lazy, not only are you a beekeeper-carpenter who thinks "outside of the box", but you're a natural diplomat---you call your things "Junk" and your wife's things "stuff".  Wise choice of words.  :)

If you're not creative, who is it who made all those unbelieveable items in the pictures?

And who is it who makes such good use of all that equipment in what assumedly is your workshop?
WOW!  :photos:

Nothing really creative about it.  You get some wood (I started with 3 trees), you cut them to what the plan says, put glue where it says and boom. An end table pops out.  Even the cutting boards with the burned figures come straight out of a book and use carbon paper.  Currently every clamp I own is holding a morris chair arm together. It has been laying around for years, figure I should finish it.

Being creative doesn't mean you have to be original.  If you  take a tree and turn it into a table (and all sorts of other things) I would definitely  call that "being creative".  Being original is the next step.
Your work, Minz, is inspirational.  O:-)
