Title: Brood comb

I made the mistake of putting a deep inner cover on one of my hives upside down and the bees filled it with comb. I took the cover off today and scraped all of the comb out of it--very little honey inside, but lots of dark, empty brood comb. Can I render this dark comb? Am not sure if it can be used or not.

Yes, you can melt it down and get the wax.

Once its filtered, it will lighten up.

YEP!!!   It will take a bit more screening/filtering to get the cocoons out of it, but well worth the effort.
   I try to save up all the old comb and cappings, and then melt them all together. If you have a TED nearby with a solar wax melter it helps!!!
